GREEN BARCOMBE

POLLINATOR PROJECT

The Barcombe Pollinator’s Project 2026

One of the key initiatives being rolled out this year in Barcombe – as part of the new Green strategy – is the Barcombe Pollinator’s Project. Our idea is to have a real push this spring and summer (and hopefully into the future) to encourage residents to cultivate and nurture as many pollinating flowers as possible to improve biodiversity in our community and to protect our bees, insects, birds and bats.

We will be kicking this off at the Eco Fair where adults and children will have the opportunity to plant a Giant Sunflower seed, take it home and grow a beautiful, pollinating flower. Our vision is that there will be lots of front gardens with sunflowers everywhere! There will be a prize for the tallest one.

At the Eco Fair we will also be giving out wildflower seeds and providing advice about how to grow these in tubs and in the ground. We hope to have wildflower tubs around the village as well.

Long term we also hope to cultivate areas on the rec into wildflower havens, and we will need help with this. If you have time to volunteer, please get in touch!
